A rare departure for Fourbass Music a serious bass quartet, The Sullivan bass quartets are arrangements of the early works for string quartet, the Andante and Allegro are from the string quartet in one movement written in Leipzig whilst studying with Felix Mendelssohn and the romance is an early piece dedicated to his mother.
 
Romantic in style and reminds one of the first movement of the Mendelsson octet.
